Westar Energy wants to warn its customers about people posing as employees and trying to gain entry into their homes.

The company says it has received several complaints from customers saying an individual came to their home, claiming to work for Westar, and needing to work on equipment inside their home.

Westar says its employees do not do maintenance inside homes. Neither do its contractors. The company says all of its employees carry company identification and will show it when asked.

Westar says its employees wear clothing such as shirts and caps bearing the Westar logo. Westar vehicles will also display the company name or logo.

The company says customers suspecting suspicious activity should call the Customer Relations Center at 1-800-383-1183 and verify that someone has been sent to that address.

The company also encourages customers to report the incidents to their local law enforcement agency.
