SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan. -

A Wichita man convicted of murder has been sentenced to life in prison.

Sedgwick County District Judge Ben Burgess sentenced Shawn Malik Brown, 21, to two life sentences, plus 228 months in district court Friday. Brown was found guilty of shooting and killing Shawn Rhone and Adji Tampone last year.

Brown will not be eligible for parole for 40 years. After serving the life terms, he must spend 228 additional months in prison for the crimes of aggravated robbery, attempted aggravated robbery and criminal discharge of a weapon.

Brown's brother, Jerone Brown, was a co-defendant in both cases and will be sentenced by Judge Burgess April 11.
