Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department.  Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets. 

These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

Construction trailer burglary…
7:11 am
A 54/m reports someone burglarized his enclosed construction trailer while it was parked at a construction site in the 1600 block of N. Rock. The thief forced their way through a side door and stole property from the trailer.

Welcome home…
9:34 am
A 31/f in the 3200 block of N. Lake Ridge says she came home from vacation and her mailbox was empty. She thinks someone stole her mail because it happened to a neighbor of hers recently. (Note: You can have your mail suspended while you are on vacation by going to the USPS’s website)

Dog-gone…
10:41 am
A 47/m reports someone stealing an eight-week-old black and tan female chihuahua puppy from a business in the 11300 block of W. Kellogg. Surveillance video was not available. The loss is estimated at more than $1,000.

Bad bills…
10:43 am
A 52/f who works for a business in the 2500 block of W. Douglas says she found two counterfeit bills in a cash register at the end of a shift. She thinks she knows where they came from and gave police information on the possible counterfeiter as well as a vehicle description.

Tainted gas…
10:53 am
A 56/f reports someone putting something in the gas tank of a company tow truck in the 4300 block of S. Broadway. The truck is now damaged.

Three-wheeler…
11:04 am
A 53/f says she woke up at her home in the 2300 block of N. Woodlawn and found the front driver’s side rim and tire were missing. The car was resting on the brake rotor. The car was in the parking lot of the apartment complex at the time. No idea who did it.

All wet…
11:52 am
A 47/f called police to report that someone stole some swimming pool toys from her backyard. While she was on the phone with police, she went into her backyard and found out that the toys were returned.

Gold scam…
2:03 pm
A 52/f called police to report that a woman was corresponding with someone else (apparently online or by phone). The woman received a cash advance on her credit card and sent it to the person, who said he wanted to ship his gold to the United States. He said he wanted the gold to be here waiting for him when he came to the US. The report lists a “large monetary loss”. It’s reported as “mistreatment of a dependent adult.”

Inappropriate…
3:04 pm
A 43/f reports an unknown man touching himself inappropriately in front of her inside a business. The man left in a car. Police collected evidence at the scene. Police have not found the man. No other details (the address of the incident, type of business, etc.) are listed.

Pizza man driver robbed…
8:14 pm
A 30/m says he was delivering pizza to an apartment complex in the 800 block of S. Hydraulic. As he walked up to the apartment, someone pulled a silver handgun on him and demanded “properties” (presumably cash and the pizza). Another person picked up the property and they both left. No injuries.

Bricks…
11:16 PM
A 61/m reports someone trying to use a tool to chisel out the bricks from his front porch in the 1200 block of N. Wabash. The guy left without incident in a vehicle. There was no damage and the man says he doesn’t know who the guy was.
