Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department. Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets.
These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

A woman reports her boyfriend beat her 8-year-old son with an extension cord and leather belt leaving visible injuries. This happened while she was at work. The man was arrested for child abuse. The address is not listed.
A 53/f, who is pastor at a church in the 1200 block of E. Waterman, says someone threw rocks through windows at the church. She says the word “Sickoh” was “finger written” on one of the unbroken windows.
A 57/f says she parked her car in the 2000 block of N. Rock Road for five minutes while she was getting some chairs out for an evening concert. When she returned, the passenger side window was shattered and her purse was missing. Police sent her an ID theft packet.
A 38/f says her white headed cockatiel was in a cage on her front porch along with another bird in the 1300 block of N. Crestline. When she went to check on the birds, one of them was missing. She believes the bird may have opened the cage and flew away.
An officer reports a woman dropping off two children (one is a 5-year-old boy) to the Wichita Children’s Home because she is no longer able to care for them. One of the children’s parents is in jail, police can’t track down the other parent. The report does not state what relationship, if any, the woman who dropped the kids off has with them)

A 35/m says two people caught his jeep on fire while attempting to drill a hole in the gas tank under the vehicle. This happened in the 1100 block of S. Washington.
A 32/f reports three children were placed in immediate danger by their parents. At least one of the children tested positive for meth. The ages are not listed, and there aren’t many details in the report. Two of the children were taken to the Wichita Children’s Home. It’s not clear what happened to the third.
A 23/f reports someone coming into her backyard in the 500 block of E. 55th S. and throwing all of her patio furniture and grill around. Some of the items were damaged slightly. No idea who did it.
A 50/f says she went to a gas station in the 5600 block of E. Harry to fill up. She went inside to pay, but when she returned, her gas cap was partially open. She says there were two guys in a white truck next to her. They were laughing when she returned. Her car broke down on the way to Kansas City. She thinks the two guys put something in her gas tank, but she has not talked to a mechanic about why she broke down.
