Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department.  Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets. 

These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

Scooter…
8:32 am
A 27/m says two people broke a surveillance camera off of his home in the 600 block of N. Topeka. They also sat on his scooter. He wasn’t sure if there was any damage to the scooter, he hadn’t checked before calling police.

Stolen letters…
9:25 am
A 50/m who works for a school in the 1600 block of N. Market (Irving Elementary) says someone took two letters from the school marquee and also damaged two window screens in the library.

A sticky situation...
10:25 am
A 40/m says someone went through a building in the 2100 block of S. Wheatland and sprayed foam adhesive throughout multiple rooms. The vandals got in through an unlocked back door. Pictures of the damage along with some remaining adhesive were submitted to police as evidence.

BB vandals…
11:10 am
A 30/f says vandals shot up her front door and passenger rear tail light with a BB or pellet gun. This happened in the 1500 block of E. El Monte.

Aggressive shoplifter...
11:28 am
A 19/m says a woman pushed him after she was in an altercation with two other people in the 7700 block of E. Kellogg. He says the woman and someone else stole merchandise from three businesses without paying. The woman was arrested for petit theft, battery, disorderly conduct and assault. The other person was also arrested. No one was hurt.

Graffiti…
12:00 pm
An officer reports someone sprayed graffiti on an east wall of a building in the 1200 block of S. Emporia. That person also broke a window pane on a door.

Tossed salad…
1:10 pm
A 30/f says she laid her phone down while making a salad at a business in the 3200 block of S. Seneca. She got to her car and realized she didn’t have the phone on her. When she got back to work, she did a search for her phone and found it was possibly near 32nd S. and Edwards. 911 advised her they would send an officer to retrieve the phone if she could give an exact address.

Blinkered…
2:26 pm
A man says a woman ripped the blinker off of his company vehicle in the 800 block of S. Meridian. An officer showed up to arrest her, but she headbutted him and fought with him, causing minor injuries. She was then put into the patrol car where she ripped the weather stripping from a rear door. She was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries caused in the scuffle with the cop. The officer was also treated at the hospital for injuries to his hands, knee and forehead. The woman was arrested for battery of a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and damaging a vehicle.

Barkin’...
2:48 pm
A 53/m reports his neighbor has been leaving his dog outside all night. The dog is barking constantly, disturbing his peace.

Clippings…
3:00 pm
A 25/f says someone sent her and her mother newspaper articles on which the person wrote “YOU ARE NEXT”. The report does not state what the articles are about.

That might be hydraulic fluid…
3:04 pm
A 25/m reports someone getting into his car in the 4100 block of E. English. The person rummaged through the car and left some unknown dark fluid in the passenger seat - possibly causing permanent damage. Nothing was taken.

Gas can...or gas “can’t”…
3:16 pm
A 73/m say she gave someone some help by providing him with 5 ½ gallons of gas in a new gas can. He says the guy agreed to refill the can and return it to him that same day. He says the guy never attempted to return the can with the gas.

Unsupervised...and unclothed…
4:24 pm
An officer reports finding two children, ages four and three, outside a home unsupervised. One of them was nude from the waist down. A person (presumably the person who was supposed to be watching the children, though that is not specifically stated) was not on scene when police showed up, but did arrive a short time later. The two children were taken into protective custody.

Garage shot…
8:04 pm
A 57/m says someone fired shots at his home in the 3300 block of N. Fairview. Five bullet holes were found in the garage wall.

The lengths some people will go to…
10:33 pm
An 18/f reports seeing a woman shoplifting two items from a store in the 3900 block of S. Hydraulic. The woman then locked herself into the bathroom until the store became busy. At that point, she left the restroom and walked right out the front door.

All fun and games until something gets stolen…
3:35 am (Friday)
A 31/m says he let his phone down while taking pictures on a party bus in the 200 block of N. Washington. He went to pick up the phone and it was gone. He says several people had gotten onto the bus who were not there initially.
