Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department.  Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets. 

These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

Someone is going to wind up with that fake bill...
4:38 am
A 50/f taxi driver says someone tried to pass a counterfeit bill to pay for his cab fare. He eventually paid with real money. The driver did not wish to prosecute.

Didn’t see this coming…
7:49 am
A 54/f says someone stole her 2005 Kia Spectra from the driveway of her home in the 400 block of S. Volutsia. The car was left running with the keys in it. She says the passenger-side taillight is duct-taped on, there are no hubcaps on the rear wheels and the car has some hail damage.

Excavator stolen…
8:27 am
A 47/m who works for a company in the 7700 block of E. Osie says someone stole a trailer with an excavator on it.

Hit with a bat…
9:57 am
A 52/m says someone struck him in the face with a small wooden bat in the 1700 block of S. Edgemoor. The hit left behind a small cut on his upper nose. He refused treatment for the wounds.

Discarded dogs…
10:30 am
A 66/f says she found two pet carriers with two dogs in them in the trash dumpster in the 1300 block of E. Galena. Animal control picked the dogs up. (The report does not state whether the dogs were alive)

Tailgate stolen…
10:34 am
A 27/f says she woke up Thursday morning and the tailgate was missing from her truck. The truck was in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 500 block of S. West Street. She thinks it may be a guy she’s been dating off and on. She says he’s threatened in the past to do something like this to her truck.

12:43 am
A 33/f says someone used black spray paint to write graffiti on the side of her building in the 900 block of W. Douglas. She took pictures to submit to police.

Angry driver…
1:01 pm
A 33/m says someone was driving at the side of his car, then turned a circle in front of him and started yelling and gesturing at him at 13th and Woodlawn. He has no idea why. He says he was in the process of taking his aunt to her dialysis treatment and was driving the speed limit.

Rent payments stolen…
1:15 pm
A 38/f, who managed an apartment building in the 700 block of N. Country Acres, says someone stole rent payments from their drop box. One money order was cashed.

Mail stolen…
7:18 pm
A 55/m in the 1800 block of E. Lockwood says someone stole his mail. He didn’t realize it until a bill came in with a past-due amount. The check he’d written for that bill had been altered and cashed.

Aggravated robbery…
8:25 pm
A 23/m says he and someone else were robbed at gunpoint by two people. He says the two forced their way in after he opened the door to an apartment in the 2700 block of S. Emporia. Police have not found the two suspects. No one was hurt.
