Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department. Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets.
These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

A 30/f reports someone breaking into a restaurant in the 5800 block of E. Central. The intruders threw a rock through the side window and one of them went through the drive-through window. The report does not state what, if anything, was taken.
A 41/f says three people forced their way into her home in the 1000 block of N. Minnesota and robbed her. Six other people were in the house at the time and had a gun pointed in their general direction by one of the intruders. The woman suffered minor injuries from being pistol-whipped, but didn’t need to go to the hospital.
A 39/m says his company sold a vehicle to someone and the logos on the side were supposed to be removed. Apparently, those logos were not removed and the person driving the van is apparently driving like a maniac. He says his company has received several calls that their van is “all over the road.” One caller gave a license tag for the van, which was re-registered out of town.
A 27/f says someone took her dog from her car while it was in front of her home in the 2000 block of S. Pinecrest. There were no witnesses.
A 66/f says two people came to her garage sale and said that they’d paid her the previous day for a desk, chair and filing cabinet. They were there to pick up the property. She said they did not pay for the property and did not allow them to take it. They left in a car without further incident.
Stopped just in time…
A 43/f say someone called her and told her that she owed a large amount of money to a business. She was told to go to the store and pick up several pre-paid cards to send to them to pay the debt. She went to the store to get the cards, but talked to an employee at the store about what was going on - then decided not to go through with the purchase.
A 27/f says a man was following her and her two kids on foot as she was walking home from the park in the 2700 block of N. Woodland. The guy then ran back to the park, got into his truck and continued to follow her. He took off after she yelled at him to stop following her. Police found the guy. The report does not state whether he was arrested.
A 14/f says her neighbor shot her in the arm with a BB gun, causing visible redness and swelling. She didn’t need an ambulance. Police plan on arresting the neighbor.
A man says he was robbed by someone in the 1600 block of N. Grove. He fought with the guy to keep the money, but he says he was stabbed in the leg with a screwdriver and choked unconscious at least twice. Another person says the man fired a shotgun at her twice, but she was apparently not hit and she was not there when police got to the scene. The man was taken to the hospital for treatment. Police found the two robbers as they were trying to leave the home. One of them was in possession of two spent 30.06 cartridge casings, the other had (what’s believed to be) pot and cocaine on his person.
Lawn mower theft…
A 67/m says two guys stole his riding lawn mower from his backyard. They loaded the mower up onto a trailer and took off. He chased after them and got them to stop. At that point, they ditched the trailer and took off.
Spit on an officer…
An officer reports a man spitting on him after he was asked to go inside and to stop being disorderly in the 1900 block of S. Broadway. He was arrested for battery of a law enforcement officer.
A real hole in the wall…
A 42/m says he found a bullet hole in a bedroom wall of his apartment in the 7000 block of W. 34th N. Police checked the adjoining apartment to make sure everyone and found a matching bullet hole and the bullet. No one was hurt. The owner says he accidentally fired the shot while cleaning the gun. He is on probation for a DV conviction.
A witness reports a man using his cell phone to take pictures of a 54/f from under her skirt in the 500 block of E. Pawnee. An officer reports witnessing the incident from a previously recorded video surveillance. The man was arrested. He is a registered sex offender.
No such thing as a “good drug deal”...
A 44/m says he contacted someone online through an ad on social media. He says he gave the man money for crystal meth, but the guy never returned with the drugs - OR return his money. He says he’s received calls from the person saying that he would get his money back, but so far, no luck.
