Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department.  Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets.

These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

Beaten up…
3:12 am

The man suffered bruises and cuts to his face and had blood on his clothes. He didn’t need medical attention.

Like a rock…

Filthy conditions…
8:06 am
Someone called police because two kids (one of them a 15-year-old girl, the other age is not listed) smelled bad and were possibly living in horrible conditions. Police checked the home (where the two live with their grandparents) and confirmed that conditions were, indeed, horrible. The two were taken into protective custody. Note: The address of this situation is not listed, but it appears the person who called police is a school employee.

8:55 am
A 41/m says he received an email from a girlfriend telling him that he might have a flat tire. He went to check. It was flat. He says there were also obscenities regarding him and his wife etched into the paint all the way down to the bare metal. The car was parked at an apartment complex in the 6800 block of W. Shade when it happened.

Bad boss…
12:37 pm
A 25/f says she was verbally assaulted and threatened by her boss. She says she called in sick and was told that she had to come in. Then another employee called and said they could cover her shift. She says her boss then called her a foul name and began threatening her with bodily harm. She says she DID lose her temper and cursed at him afterward. The boss said he was going to write her up, then told her to “Get out of here you (expletive) hood rat,” then threatened to physically escort her from the business and threatened to shoot her after she told him not to put his hands on her. She is eight months pregnant and will be leaving on maternity leave soon. She wants to press charges and says she is concerned for her safety.

More filthy conditions…
2:40 pm
A school assistant reported a student smelling of urine and looking dirty at school. An officer went to the home and found filthy conditions and not much food. The youngster and another (presumably a sibling) live in the home. DCF was called in and helped police and the parents come up with a safety plan. It says the two children were “relocated”, but the report does not state that they were taken into protective custody.

One person’s trash…

A 65/f says a woman came into her yard where her trash receptacles are and took a trash bag filled with recycling materials inside. She says the woman was last seen on foot walking her dog, dragging the trash bag behind her.

Someone else got it…
6:05 pm
A 21/f says she forgot her change at a self-service checkout in the 6100 block of W. Kellogg. Someone else snatched it up. The store is going to provide surveillance video of the incident.

This should cover it…
9:05 pm
A 33/m says someone came into his store in the 1400 block of N. Waco and took a product off the shelf. The business refused to sell the product to her (the report does not state why) and the man told her no. She then dropped some change on the counter and left with the item. The money didn’t cover the cost, so he filed a shoplifting report.

10:15 pm
A 22/m says he was approached by four people in the 2800 block of S. Emporia. They were armed with handguns. One of them asked for a cigarette, they then ordered him to give them everything in his pocket. One of them punched him in the side of the head, knocking him to the ground. They then beat him up until someone pulled into the parking lot. The four scattered and were not found. The man refused EMS treatment for his injuries. The report does not say whether he lost any property in the incident.

Booze and spit…

There is signage prohibiting alcohol, but the man disregarded the sign and drank it in front of the employee. While an officer went to put the guy in handcuffs, he became combative and spit on the officer’s face and on his equipment. The man was arrested for trespassing and battery of a law enforcement officer.

They’re for my brother…
