Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department.  Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets. 

These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

Planters stolen…
7:56 am
A 30/f says someone stole her two flower planters that were on both sides of her driveway in the 1700 block of S. Estelle. She has no idea who.

Lock your doors…
8:15 am
An 88/f and another person say someone broke into their home in the 1000 block of W. 55th S. while they were sleeping. She says the intruders tore her screen, unlocked the screen door, then opened an unlocked door to get in. The thief took off with some of their property. She doesn’t know who did it.

Dumpster divers…
9:21 am
A 47/m says two people came onto business property in the 8800 block of E. 34th N. and took things from their dumpster. The business is undergoing renovation, and the two thieves didn’t have permission to take the items or even to be on the premises. He’s considering whether he wants to press charges.

Laptop…
9:22 am
A 21/m says he put his laptop down at a park at N. Nims and Murdock as he was going into the restroom. When he came back, someone had stolen the laptop.

Threats…
10:28 am
A 36/m says two people caused a disturbance over an item they’d previously purchased in the 1700 block of S. Hillside. He asked them to leave and one of them threatened him by leaning into his car and racking the slide of a semi-automatic handgun. Police found the vehicle leaving the area - inside it , they found the gun, along with pot, cocaine and oxycodone. The two were arrested on several charges.

Pump chump…
10:45 am
A 55/m says he sold a pool water pump to someone. That person then contacted him again by email stating that the pump doesn’t work. He didn’t make any threats or anything, but the man wanted it documented.

Riding the dragon…
11:41 am
A 29/m says he woke up and found that his motorcycle was missing from the parking lot of his apartment complex in the 1100 block of S. Webb. He says the bike is, quoting here…”Kind of silvery white color and looks sort of like a dragon.” He says it has a 600 cc motor, a sliding cage and a loud muffler. He has the keys, so he thinks the bike was loaded onto a truck.

Clever, maybe...stealing, definitely…
12:49 pm
A 53/f who works for a business in the 11400 block of E. Kellogg says someone came into the store and selected some merchandise. The person then went to customer service and presented the product and a receipt. The person was given a cash refund for the item. Police found the person, who was arrested on a charge of theft by deception.

Throwing stones…
12:58 pm
A 42/f says a maintenance worker for her landlord came over to her house to cut the lawn and paint the house. While mowing the yard, a rock kicked up and struck the windshield of her car. She confronted the guy, who said he would pay for the window. So far, he hasn’t returned with the money.

Bike thief…
1:33 pm
A 40/m says his son’s bike was stolen from the driveway of their home in the 1600 block of E. Morris. He says his son found the bike at school. All of the stickers had been removed and someone spray-painted half of it maroon. He says the seat was chewed up by their doberman, so they know for sure it is their bike.

Child porn…
3:03 pm
A 39/m say she found what he believed to be child pornography on a computer he was working on for someone else. Police contacted the Exploited and Missing Child Unit to follow up.

Huffing…
3:15 pm
A 39/m cab driver says someone got into his cab and inhaled a can of duster. The person became unresponsive and was taken to the hospital in serious condition. Cans of duster were recovered from the back of the cab. Police also contacted SRS (DCF) in reference to two people, presumably children of the huffer.
