Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department.  Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets. 

These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

Drunk dialer…
2:36 am
A 30/m called 911, then hung up. Police went to the home, but he refused to answer the door. Police say the guy has a history of drinking and calling 911. He also has a history of domestic violence and a live-in boyfriend. Police never made contact with the guy who called, but did see the boyfriend walking around the apartment.

Reach out and touch someone…
9:27 am
A 27/m reports someone breaking into his store in the 7000 block of E. Kellogg by throwing a rock through the window. The thief got away with 13 cell phones.

11:23 am
A 33/f says someone set off a firework on the front bumper of her teal 2005 Ford Taurus leaving a burn mark. She doesn’t know who did it.

Repo man…
12:00 noon
A 37/m, who works for an automobile recovery service, says he was trying to repossess a motorcycle from someone. The owner threatened him with a handgun. Turns out, it wasn’t a gun in his waistband, it was actually a three-hole paper punch. The motorcycle was repossessed.

Terratrike stolen…
2:36 pm
A 53/f says someone stole her “Terratrike” adult-sized tricycle from outside her home in the 3200 block of S. Millwood. She has no idea who did it. (Note: What the heck's a terratrike? THIS is a Terratrike)

A looooong test drive…
3:55 pm
A 27/f reports someone taking a test drive, but failing to pay for it or return it. The driver had moved out of her home. She does have the woman’s drivers license.

Better safe than sorry…
5:17 pm
A 60/m says someone removed the gas cap from the gas tank on his 18-wheeler. The gas cap is chained to the truck, so it wasn’t stolen. He wanted to report the incident in case something was put in his tank.

8:00 pm
A 41/f called police to report that Kansas Lottery tickets were discarded in her front yard in the 1500 block of S. Lulu. They were submitted to police. No word on whether they were winners.

8:25 pm
An officer reports being attacked by someone who was being arrested while that person was receiving emergency medical care near S. West and Kellogg. The arrestee then kicked the window of the patrol vehicle, causing it to go off its track. The person was arrested on several charges.

Pump chump…
11:38 pm
A 27/m reports someone coming into the store where he works in the 1600 block of E. Lincoln and receiving a PumpStart card. He then left without paying for the fuel he pumped. There was a woman with him at the time.

Drunk cyclist…
12:23 am (Thursday)
An officer reports making contact with someone in the 1000 block of S. Broadway who was “extremely intoxicated”. The man said he fell off his bike and hurt his nose. He was taken to the hospital for treatment. His bike was submitted to police.
