Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department.  Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets. 

These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

Purse snatching…
12:09 am
A 21/f says she was standing on her front porch in the 1500 block of N. Madison when a man came up and took her purse at gunpoint. She wasn’t hurt. Police have not found the thief.

School burglary…
6:15 am
A 52/m says someone broke into the boiler room of a school in the 1800 block of S. Cypress. The door and security system were damaged. The intruder got into the principal’s office and stole some things.

Garage door burglary…
6:45 am
A 52/m says someone used a snipping tool to cut a hole in nine garage door panels at a business in the 11500 block of E. Agate. Some things were stolen from the garage. There is surveillance video of the incident.

Boat theft…
8:20 am
A 60/m says someone stole his boat and trailer which were chained up against his garage in the 7000 block of W. Maple. The boat is registered to his brother, but he purchased it from him last month.

Backpack stolen...
8:43 am
A 23/m says his backpack was stolen from the 400 block of N. Market. He says the backpack was hanging in a coat rack when it was taken. He found the backpack and his wallet (which was in the backpack) in the restroom. Unfortunately, property was removed from the wallet.

Raised her right…
12:25 pm
A 28/f says her father received a call that he’d won money - but needed to pay taxes up front with a cashier’s check. She went to her dad’s house and called them back and told them to quit calling. At that point, the caller got an attitude with her. She asked him why he had a Jamaican area code if he’s saying their company is in Las Vegas. She then asked him what time it was in Vegas. He gave the wrong time. She hung up on him. Her dad didn’t send any money.

Shoot ‘em up…
2:55 pm
An 84/m says someone was shooting holes in his property in the 1000 block of S. Pineridge (the report does not state exactly what was damaged). He thinks it’s some neighbor kids who have BB guns, but he hasn’t actually witnessed them firing the guns on his property.

Drug deal…
5:18 pm
A 24/m says he met two people (friends of a friend) to sell drugs in the 7400 block of W. 21st N. He says one of the guys pulled out an ASP (police baton) and struck him on the head twice. He dropped his backpack, which was then taken by the two people. He suffered a one-inch laceration to his forehead, but refused EMS treatment.

Stranger…
9:19 pm
A 29/f says she was out watering plants in the 2500 block of E. Sennett when someone walked up to her and started taking pictures of her. He didn’t say anything. She says he’s known in the neighborhood, but she’s never had any contact with him.

Hoist with his own petard…
9:48 pm
A 24/m says two people barged into his apartment in the 1400 block of S. Sante Fe. One of the guys was wielding a knife and cut him on the leg. He managed to grab the knife and stabbed the intruder. The intruder was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. The report does not state whether the resident was seriously hurt.
