Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department. Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets.
These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

A 19/m says he was robbed at knifepoint in the 1200 block of S. Tyler. Police found the robber and made the arrest.
A woman says she found a man in her garage taking things out of her car. She says the garage door was left open. He took off running with the property and a man who lives in the home (presumably her husband) chased him and caught the guy, but the thief was able to break free. Cops were able to catch him, but they weren’t able to recover the stolen property.
A 45/m says someone broke into his vacant home in the 1000 block of W. 45th S. and took tools and building materials belonging to someone else, possibly a contractor.
A 27/f says someone dented the passenger doors of her Chevy Malibu. She believes the damage is from a pellet gun because there is a small hole in one of the doors. This happened in the 1000 block of N. Shefford. She says her neighbor had a window shot out of his vehicle.
A 67/m in the 1300 block of N. Cardington says he noticed the cover to his water meter laying about five feet from the meter. When he examined the meter itself, it appeared some of the wires had been cut. He called the water company, they told him there was no danger to him and that he should put the cover back on the water meter. The utility told him they’d send someone over to check it out.
A 28/m says he found some chalk marks on the door of his car, along with handprints on the hood. He thinks there may be some permanent scratches. No idea where the marks came from. This happened in the 7400 block of E. 32nd N.
A 40/m says he hired a woman to babysit. While she was in his house, she went through his desk drawer and stole at least one business check. That check has since been cashed with a forged signature - made out to her and cashed by her. He is in the process of closing the account. He says he did pay her for her babysitting services.
A 50/f says her neighbor threw basketballs at the end of the privacy fence that separates their yards. The balls damaged her lilac bush. She says the guy is constantly harassing her and trying to get her to move out.
A 24/m reports someone calling the business where he works in the 3300 block of E. Central and said “There is a car bomb in the parking lot and it’s going to go off if you don’t give me the numbers of 10 of your Green Dot money cards.” The area was checked and no devices was located. The store was not evacuated and no one was hurt. The store submitted phone logs to police.
The same thing happened at a store in the 10400 block of W. 13th N. In this case, the caller hung up when the employee asked for his name and number.
A 28/m says someone vandalized some buses belonging to a business in the 2400 block of N. Opportunity. One of the buses had a broken window and another had been defecated in. No idea who did it. They’re checking to see if there’s video of the incident.
Robbed at gunpoint…
A 36/f says someone robbed someone else at gunpoint in the 1700 block of S. Palisade. The person who was robbed was struck with the gun, but not seriously hurt.
Old Town garage vandals…
A 22/m called 911 to report several cars in the Old Town parking garage were vandalized, possibly by rocks being thrown. Some of the cars had extensive damage, to the point where they could not be driven safely.
