Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department. Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets.
These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

A 25/m says someone broke out the window of his rear bedroom in the 800 block of S. Terrace. The person then came into his home and stole some of his property. Police didn’t find any fingerprints or blood at the scene.
A 28/m reports two people coming into a business in the 7700 block of E. Central by forcing their way through a locked door. They were asked to leave. At that point, one of them pushed the man so he could get into the business, then it turned into a fight. He was finally able to get them to leave, but they were promptly picked up by police and taken to jail. They were booked on trespass and criminal damage to property charges. The guy who initiated the fight was also booked on a charge of battery.
On the phone…
A woman called police to report that she saw what she believed was child pornography on someone’s cell phone. No other information was listed in the report.
A 70/f reports hiring someone to paint her six antique lawn chairs. She gave him a deposit and he took the chairs (which she says are family heirlooms) - but now he’s moved and she can’t get a hold of him. He still has the chairs and he has cashed the check she gave him as the deposit.
We’re half-way to Christmas…
A 79/f says she woke up and found that the antenna was broken off of her car in the 300 block of N. Elizabeth. She says the antenna was laying on the trunk lid. She had a candy cane cover on the antenna. That was also laying on the trunk. She has no idea who did it. The car was parked in her driveway at the time.
A 74/f says her neighbor’s dog has been barking off and on all day and all night in the 100 block of W. 30th S. She says she’s talked with the neighbor about it before, but he has been unresponsive in fixing the issue. She says she’ll call animal control if it continues.
Gun in the yard…
An 80/f says she found a 12-gauge shotgun in her backyard along with a piece of plywood that came from another address. Police weren’t able to make contact with anyone at that address.
A woman called police and asked them to check the welfare of her two grandchildren. Police found the children (one of them a two year old boy) at home. Their mother was drunk and passed out. The kids were taken into protective custody.
A 24/m reports someone trying to pass a check for gas at a business in the 7700 block of E. Central. He refuse to take the check because he was using someone else’s ID. The customer left - and left the check and ID behind. Police found the guy and whisked him off to jail on forgery charges.
Pellet gun and more…
A 29/m reports shooting a pellet gun on property belonging to a business in the 900 block of N. Waco The person was arrested on several charges, including resisting arrest.
An abundance of caution…
A 42/f called police to ask them to check on the welfare of some children she thought were locked in a building. Police checked it out, the kids were fine.
A 40/f says her four month old dog was missing from her porch in the 2400 block of N. Prince. She doesn’t know if it was stolen or if it ran away.
K9, K2, OD
12:11 am (Thursday)
A 50/f says she heard a knock on her back door in the 1500 block of N. Lynnhurst. She allowed her dog out. At that point, she heard two people - who were later found in the area having overdosed on what police believe is K2. They were both taken to the hospital for treatment. One of them had a minor dog bite from the woman’s dog.
