Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department.  Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets. 

These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

Through the garage…
5:49 am
A 47/m reports going to work in the 3300 block of N. Rock Road and noticing damage to a garage door panel. Someone got into the business and stole some property.

...meanwhile, in another garage…
7:15 am
A 66/f reports seeing someone nude in her garage acting lewd. The woman was arrested for public nudity and lewd and lascivious behavior. The address is not listed due to the nature of the incident.

A few minutes later, a 63/f reported a similar incident on her back porch. The two cases appear to involve the same woman.

Overheated...then stolen…
7:49 am
A 51/f reports her SUV overheated, so she parked it in a parking lot of a business in the 2200 block of N. Yale. The tow company arrived to tow the vehicle and told her that the SUV was no longer there. The key was apparently left under the tire for the tow company.

Unlocked locker…
9:28 am
A 31/m reports someone stole some things out of his unlocked locker at the Y in the 6900 block of W. Newell.

Not very fun…

A 23/f reports someone stealing things out of her diaper bag while she was attending the carnival in the Towne West parking lot. Apparently her wallet was stolen, she was given an ID Theft Prevention Kit.

Social media bullies…
11:12 am
A 37/f says her teenager son was threatened with bodily harm by five other students at his school through a social website. She says this has been going on all school year after her son made a private life choice public. She took screenshots of the threats and submitted them to police.

The whistler…
11:20 am
A 44/f says she’s been receiving unwanted calls. In the most recent call, she blew a whistle into the phone. But, they’re still calling.

Wedding band stolen…

A 34/m reports someone stole his wife’s wedding ring out of her gym bag while she was working out at the Y on W. Newell. She says she put the ring in a side pocket of the bag while she was in the gymnasium area. She thinks someone saw her do it because it was the only thing taken from her bag. The loss is listed at more than $1000.

Drinking and huffing…
1:12 pm
A 48/f reports seeing a man driving his truck while inhaling duster in the 500 block of E. Pawnee. She says she saw the guy pass out while driving and was able to get him stopped. He failed a field sobriety test and had a Blood Alcohol Level of .251(Legal limit: .08) over an hour later. He was arrested on several charges.

Got her wallet back…without her cards...
1:22 pm
A 28/f reports she lost her wallet in the 2400 block of S. Seneca. She found it at the restaurant a while later, but her bank cards were missing. Two of them were canceled, the other one has a restriction on it so it can’t be used. Apparently there were some charges on those cards, but unknown how much.

ATM cash snatch…
3:09 pm
A 76/m says he was trying to get money out of an ATM in the 3900 block of W. 13th N. He says he was going through his wallet when the money was dispensed and someone came up and snatched the money and walked away.

Shoplifter attack…
5:27 pm
A 35/m reports someone stealing property from a store in the 4700 block of E. 13th N. He says the woman then tried running him over with her red Ford Escape. The store is putting together surveillance video to submit to police. No one was hurt.

“The works? No thanks...”
7:18 pm
A 47/m says he went to a business (the address is not listed) for a massage, but he was told that unless he wanted “The Works” - his business was not wanted. The man left without incident.
