Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department.  Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets. 

These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

Businesses burglarized…
6:27 am
An officer reports hearing from eight people whose suites were burglarized in the 200 block of S. Laura. Police believe the intruder(s) got in by forcing their way through a side door.

Left behind…
7:40 am
A 57/m, whose truck was recently recovered after being stolen, reports that there was some property in the truck that didn’t belong to him. It was turned in as evidence, except for a Kansas tag, which was returned to the person it belonged to.

Lock ‘em up…
8:00 am
A 34/m says someone got into his unlocked vehicle in the 2100 block of S. Milstead and stole some property, including a firearm.

Creep…
8:28 am
A 27/f called police to report a man she didn’t know was taking pictures of her and her vehicle at her home in the 500 block of S. McComas.

Fuel line cut…
8:38 am
A 29/m says someone cut his fuel line and stole gas from his car in the 11700 block of E. Kellogg.

Left alone…
9:26 am
A 29/f reports a woman leaving her home and leaving behind a young boy. She says the boy was sitting on the steps outside of their apartment crying for his mother. The woman came home and said she had a quick errand to run and the boy wouldn’t wake up, so she left him there. Police checked on the home, living conditions were good, no injuries, no previous incidents. The report does not state how old the boy is.

Cut the chain….
10:20 am
A 21/m says someone stole his electric bicycle from a bike rack in the 500 block of E. Pawnee. The bike was secured with a chain, but that chain was cut and the bike was taken.

That’s a lot of money…
10:55 am
A lawyer for a business int he 7400 block of E. Oxford reports that an employee embezzled money from the business in the amount of $167,000.

Money Order altered…
12:19 pm
A 32/f says she mailed her car payment via money order, but someone intercepted it, altered it and cashed it.

Warrant scam…
2:23 pm
A 67/f says she received a call from someone claiming to be a police officer. The caller told her there was a warrant out for her arrest because she was seen running a red light on camera, then missed her court date. The caller advised her to get a Green Dot Card to take care of the ticket and court expenses. She was also told that the money wouldn’t be taken from the card until her next court date, and that if she didn’t comply, that officers would come to her home to arrest her. She didn’t get the card and isn’t out any money.

6:02 pm
A 43/f says she received a call from a man identifying himself as a detective. He gave her the same story as the case above. She says something didn’t seem right, so she called the number back. When she asked the man for his name, he used an expletive.

Chemical burns…
5:32 pm
An officer took three children into protective custody due to poor living conditions. One of them, an 11-year-old girl, suffered chemical burns at the home last Friday. Those wounds were never treated. Police got her to the hospital where she was admitted for burn treatment. The other two were taken to the Wichita Children’s Home.

Aggravated Burglary, etc…
9:09 pm
Three people report a man threatening to shoot up their house in the 2500 block of W. Wildwood. He then kicked in the front door while they were inside with two other people. The man slammed something against the brick of the home, causing damage. He then grabbed a 19/f and attacked her. The man kept her from leaving the home. Police did find him, he was arrested for aggravated burglary, DV kidnapping, DV battery and possession of paraphernalia.

Shot and robbed…
10:58 pm
A 20/m reports a man tried to rob him and shot him in the leg. A second person says the man held a gun to his head and robbed him of his cell phone. The first man went to the hospital for treatment. Police know who the man who robbed them is, they’re now looking for him.
