Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department. Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets.
These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

A 49/m says someone stole his black 2007 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle from his driveway in the 4200 block of W. Memory Lane. The motorcycle is black with red metal flake flames, red metal flake rims and “Limited Edition Ninja” in white lettering on top of the gas tank. He says the bike’s brakes are bad.
Business, vending machine burglarized…
A 54/f reports someone using a pry tool to open the side door of a business in the 2100 block of N. Madison and stealing some property. The thief also broke into the vending machine and stole property (it does not state whether the thief took money or snacks or both).
Learned her lesson…sort of…
A 29/f says someone took her stuff from her unlocked van in the 2500 block of S. Greenwood. She says her vehicle has been broken into before, so she no longer locks it. She doesn’t want to replace broken windows again. She says it happened on the street in front of her home.
A 42/f says someone threw a rock, hitting the outside double-pane window breaking the outside window of the Mental Health Association in the 500 block of N. Woodlawn. No one broke into the building, nothing was stolen.
A 21/m, who works loss prevention for a store in the 5400 block of N. Meridian, says four young men came into his store and took some merchandise, then walked out without any attempt to pay. He confronted the men outside and they returned the merchandise. He says this has been an ongoing problem with these young men, but he hasn’t been able to catch them in the act. He says they were accompanied by a woman who came in with an empty backpack and left with a full backpack.
That was strange…
A 48/f says three people were in her front yard when she came out of her home in the 10300 block of W. Jewell. She says she came out and all three yelled “HI!” and drove off in two vehicles. She has no idea what they were doing in her yard, but thought it was suspicious enough to report. A similar incident happened later in the day with just one of the people.
A 78/f says she received a phone call from someone who said he was an attorney for her grandson. She says he gave an elaborate story about her grandson being arrested out of state and even let her talk to someone who claimed to be her grandson. She made two payments using prepaid cards before realizing it was a scam. The report does not state how much money she lost.
An officer reports a man staggering toward him with an open pocket knife and saying “It’s gonna get hard in here”. The officer wasn’t hurt. The man was arrested for Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer. He was also picked up on a city warrant for a seat belt violation. This all happened in the 1300 block of N. Madison.
A 25/m reported seeing a man stuff two packages of meat down his pants at the Save-A-Lot in the 2400 block of E. 13th. The meat was recovered, the man was arrested.

A 51/f who works for a store in the 11400 block of E. Kellogg says she saw a man wearing an employee smock stealing merchandise. She stopped the man at the door and asked for proof of purchase. He says he was an employee of the store and he was helping a customer out. After further questioning, the man dropped the stolen property and darted out the door and took off in a car.
