WICHITA, Kan. -

Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department.  Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets.

These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

You can read all of the sheets by going here: WPD Media Reports (click on the "Media Reports" tab)

In her drink…
5:02 am
A 48/f says she lost consciousness. She thinks someone put something in her drink and touched her inappropriately. She was taken to the hospital to be checked out. Note: These cases show up from time to time on the daily police sheets. We don’t normally put them in our “crime sheets report,” however this case was vague enough to feature without risk of identifying the victim.

Blacked out…
7:50 am
A 33/f reports drinking at a club in the 600 block of E. Douglas - then waking up and finding her purse and its contents missing. She was not hurt, but has no idea who would have taken her purse.

Parts…
8:17 am
A 25/m says someone stole parts off of his motorcycle while it was parked at his home in the 2200 block of N. Estelle.

Firecrackers…
8:32 am
A 69/f says someone vandalized her mailbox in the 2500 block of N. Poplar. She’s pretty sure someone put a firecracker in it.

Road rage…
11:03 am
A 29/f says she was driving near N. Broadway and 3rd when someone started honking at her at different stoplights. She says the driver pulled up beside her and threw a can of soda at her car, causing some damage.

Scorned…
12:22 pm
A 38/f in the 1700 block of N. Floberta says a friend’s wife called her and came to her house screaming and accusing her of being involved with her husband. She says the woman ran over her trash can while her kids were home.

Thrown brick…
12:55 pm
A 42/m says someone threw a brick through his front glass window while he was sleeping. This happened in the 2300 block of N. Poplar.

In case you were wondering…
1:35 pm
A 37/m called police to report that he did NOT kidnap his children. The report was listed as “miscellaneous.”

Scammed…
4:58 pm
A 48/f says someone called from a company about a loan. The caller said she needed to send a money card with a payment for taxes on the loan. She sent three money cards and even gave her bank account number so they could deposit the loan money. She never received the money and she had to cancel her account because they kept calling her and harassing her to get more money.

One bad guy...five good guys (Gotta like those odds)…
5:47 pm
A 67/f says someone pushed her to the ground and took her purse in the 5500 block of E. Harry. The incident left her with some visible injuries, but the report does not state whether she was taken to the hospital. Five witnesses chased and caught the purse snatcher, who was arrested and booked into juvie.

That’s not a knife…
8:02 pm
A 34/f says her neighbor threatened her with a 4-inch* steak knife and tried to hit her with an aluminum bat during an altercation in the 1800 S. Vine. Someone punched someone else during that same altercation. It looks like police interviewed everyone involved and decided to make at least one arrest. (*The police report refers to this as a 4’ steak knife...as in four-foot… this seemed unlikely enough to change to inches.)

Just hold it…
8:33 pm
A 67/m called police to report his landlord telling him not to use his restroom for the whole day as the landlady was trying to fix plumbing. He says this isn’t the first time he’s had issues with the landlady. He wanted to report the incident for documentation.

Scorched…
10:58 pm
A 27/f says someone fired fireworks at her car, leaving several scorch marks. She asked the person to stop and a verbal argument ensued. No one was hurt.
