Window shot out...
A 43/f says her ex-boyfriend drove by her home in the 200 block of S. Vine and shot out the rear window of her vehicle. The bullet was left lodged in the dashboard. She wasn’t able to retrieve it without damaging the vehicle further. No one was hurt. She has a Protection From Abuse order against the man.
Car stolen in front of school…
A 41/f says her car was stolen while left running in front a school in the 2900 block of S. Victoria. Her purse and all of its contents - along with her cell phone - were in the car at the time. The school has surveillance footage of the theft.
Running car stolen...ditched…
A 31/m says his car was stolen from the 4000 block of S. Broadway. The car was left running The car was found at I-235 and MacArthur after it slid into a ditch. An eyewitness saw the thief getting out of the car and recognized him. The vehicle was not damaged.
Getting the kids for school...car stolen..
A 72/m says he left his car running in the 2200 block of S. Spruce while he ran in to get his grandkids to take them to school. When he came out with the kids, the car was gone. He says the keys weren’t in the car...because it starts with a screwdriver. The car has not been recovered.
No gas...still stolen…
A 22/m says he ran out of gas in the 4700 block of E. Kellogg, so he parked his SUV under the Oliver Street Bridge on the south shoulder of Kellogg. When he came back, the vehicle was gone. He says he still had the keys.
A 43/f, who is the principal at a school in the 2700 block of N. Woodlawn, says her school nurse contacted the parent of a student who was showing signs of being sick. The parent was asked to come to pick up the student. The principal says the parent was upset because she had to pick the student up. She says this isn’t the first time the parent has come to the school upset and the nurse felt intimidated and uncomfortable by her behavior. The principal went to check on things, but says the woman continued causing a disturbance. The child was taken out of the room because he started to cry. The mother was sent a letter banning her from the school grounds unless she’s given prior permission.
A 22/m says his ex-wife called him to say that she was leaving, and their four-year-old son would be left home alone. The man and police went to the home and found the boy alone without any supervision. Police couldn’t get in contact with the mother. The boy was left in his father’s care.
Taken to the cleaners…
A 56/f says her purse and its contents were stolen from her car while she was loading laundry in the 1900 block of E. Pawnee. The thief got the purse though an unlocked door.
A 38/m says he came home (in the 1100 block of S. Quentin) and saw a man walking out his front door with his TV. The guy dropped the TV and ran toward the northeast. Footprints were followed (report does not state whether police or the homeowner followed the footprints) and led to the thief’s home. Another person left the scene in a car.
