Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department.  Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets. 

These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

12:28 am
A 41/m reports being attacked by a man after someone accused him of staring at his girlfriend. The guy then threw a metal mailbox through the storm door glass of a home in the 600 block of S. Kansas. He had a little redness to his face, but didn’t need medical attention. According to a second report, at one point, the guy threw a butcher knife at him. Police didn’t find the knife. Police are looking for the assailant.

Underage drinking…

A woman called police saying her sister, who is underage, was drunk. The girl was taken into custody for underage drinking, but grabbed the arresting officer on the wrist and refused to let go - causing a minor injury to the cop. She now faces charges for battering a law enforcement officer. The girl (whose age is not listed, but is presumably under 18 because she was booked into juvie) blew a .129 more than a half-hour after the incident was reported.

10:02 am
A 20/m says someone threw an egg onto the driver’s side window of his car in the 10700 block of W. Texas. He says the egg dried and damaged the paint. He’s pretty sure he knows who did it.

Stolen mail…
11:34 am
A 50/f says someone stole her mail from the 3300 block of N. Wild Thicket. She says the mail included a brand new credit card. Several attempts were made to use the card, but it had not been activated - so all of those attempts were declined. She says her son was expecting a package, which was delivered according to tracking reports. She would like to press charges if they can find who took the mail.

While he was sleeping…

A 48/m says someone came into his home in the 300 block of N. Pennsylvania and stole some of his property. He says he was upstairs asleep at the time of the burglary. The crook got in through the back door, which was left unlocked.

Rock thrown…

A 70/f reports someone throwing a rock at her house, breaking her storm window and chipping the inside window. The rock fell in between the two panes of glass. She has no idea who threw the rock.

Kicked outta Taco Bell…
3:44 pm
A 25/m reports asking a customer to leave and not return to the Taco Bell in the 400 block of E. 47th S. The guy understood and complied without incident. The restaurant contacted police just to document the incident.

No means No…
5:06 pm
A 33/f says she keeps getting harassing calls and text messages. She thinks the callers are wanting sexual relations and they are asking if she’s “available”. She says the calls are coming in at all times of day and night, many of them are unknown numbers.

Aggravated battery…

A man brought his five-year-old daughter to St. Joe with facial injuries. The girl’s stepmother was also there. The woman who reported the incident says the injuries were pretty severe considering how it she reportedly sustained them. The girl was then taken to St. Francis after a CT scan showed head trauma. The girl was released to the dad. The stepmother was arrested on aggravated battery charges.
