Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department.  Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets. 

These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

Losing a star…
7:14 am
A 64/m says someone stole a decorative outdoor star from the exterior of his home in the 1600 block of N. Fairview. He’s pretty sure it was his neighbor.

Gun and ammo…
9:03 am
A 54/m says he found a handgun and some ammunition in the middle of the street in the 3300 block of W. Douglas. He says the items had been run over several times and were heavily damaged. The property was submitted to police.

Metal thieves…
11:03 am
An officers was called to a report of a suspicious character in the 4100 block of N. Amidon. Two witnesses told the officer that they saw two others in the area rolling up a ball of silver wire and then picking up some black wire and putting it into a vehicle. The two then took off. Officers found wire had been stripped from several light poles in that area. Those light poles were damaged.

12:19 pm
A 55/f says someone ran an ATV across her lawn in the 9800 block of W. Cindy. The ATV left marks in her yard. A neighbor says she saw an ATV that morning. She believes she knows where the owners live. Police were checking up on that home.

Martial arts…
4:44 pm
A man says his martial arts instructor started cursing at him and threatening to kill him - and even shoved him - after he tried to end their contract. He says he told the instructor that he needed a receipt for the money he paid to end the contract. There were several witnesses, but no one stepped in to help. He was not hurt, but says he’d like to press charges.

Not so sweet…
6:29 pm
An 18/f says someone put sugar in her gas tank in the 3100 block of S. Rutan. She says she’d been gone and hadn’t driven the vehicle, so damage was minimal. She contacted a mechanic who fixed the problem. She says she’s pretty sure she knows who did it. The person she thinks did it texted her asking “what happened to your car?”
