Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department. Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets.
These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

A 45/m found two people living in an abandoned building he owns in the 500 block of S. Main. There is a No Trespassing sign posted on the building. Instead of hauling them off to jail, cops took the two to a nearby shelter. They were advised that they would be arrested if they were found on the private property again.
A 19/f says she rented a house for spring break and sent two bank transfers to someone. She’d originally made contact with someone else about the house. Turns out, neither individual owns the home. The house listing has since been taken down after the woman emailed the account stating it was a scam. No word on how much money the woman is out.
Knife to a gunfight…
A 35/m says a man pointed a knife at him in the 2100 block of S. Broadway, causing him to be in fear for his life. He then pointed a gun at the man with a knife. No one was hurt. The man with the knife was arrested.
An 89/f says that for the past month, she’s been receiving prank phone calls. She says, in most of them, the caller asks who it is - then hangs up after she gives her name. She says she’s concerned for her safety and is worried to leave the house. She thinks the caller is trying to determine if someone is home - so she can be robbed. There have been no threats of harm, but the caller has stated “we are coming over”.
Caught in a door…
A 23/m says he got his thumb caught in a door during a struggle with a client at a business in the 400 block of N. Woodchuck. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
A 63/m says someone threw eggs at his Dodge Ram pickup. He wasn’t sure if there was any permanent damage. His truck was in the street in the 2300 block of N. Inwood. He says at least one other car in his neighborhood was egged.
A 35/f says someone cut the chain attachment to her child’s copper vase on her grave and taking the vase from the cemetery in the 1000 block of N. Hillside. She says other graves had vases stolen as well.
A 36/f says someone was driving recklessly at 29th and Jeanette, nearly causing her to crash. She says someone in the car then threw a full can of soda at her car - causing minor damage to her driver’s side door. She says there were children in the backseat of the car who were not buckled up.
An officer reports finding two youngsters (one of them a 14/f) at home with their mother, who was intoxicated and passed out. The two did not feel safe at home because they said mom has been aggressive lately and is always intoxicated. The two were taken in and released to their grandmother’s care.
