WICHITA, Kan. -

The Wichita City Council has voted unanimously to continue a rebate program for water-efficient appliances.

The program will apply to anyone who pays a water bill, not just homeowners. Rain sensors and dual-flush converters are now included.

Rebates would be $100 per item, for most items, with a limit of 5 rebates for most customers.

The budget for the program is $450,000. It comes from an excess in last year's budget.

The program begins July 1, but will be retroactive for appliances purchased since the start of the year.
