The Kansas Highway Patrol has reported a third fatality as a result of Tuesday's winter storm. The latest fatality was from a crash on I-135 in Harvey County just before 8:00 Tuesday morning.
According to the KHP, a 58-year-old man from Mound Ridge was taken to the hospital after the two-vehicle crash. He died overnight.
Two others were killed in a crash in Crawford County. They include a 59-year-old woman from Pittsburg and a 67-year-old woman from Parson.
The Kansas Division of Emergency Management's State Emergency Operations Center is set to deactivate at 3:00 Wednesday afternoon. It will go from 24-hour operations to normal operations.
Nine Kansas National Guard teams deployed Tuesday evening, standing by to assist communities with transporting emergency and medical personnel and assist stranded motorists. The teams consist of two humvees and four Soldiers each to transport emergency and medical personnel and assist stranded motorists. Their mission ended at noon, Wednesday.
