Wichita Police want to question a driver in connection to a weekend hit and run accident.
A tip led officers to a vehicle wanted in the accident that injured two brothers as they crossed the street. It happened in the 1900 block of E 12th St North shortly after Midnight Saturday. Police said two men were walking near 12th and Minnesota, when they were hit by a car.
It is unknown where the 2001 Saab was located. Police say a person of interest has been identified.
Police said they are no longer seeking tips in the investigation.
Wichita Police are searching for a driver in connection to a weekend hit and run accident that injured two walkers.
"They didn't know the car was even there until they were struck," said Lt. Joe Schroeder, Wichita Police.
It happened in the 1900 block of E 12th St North shortly after Midnight Saturday. Police said two men were walking near 12th and Minnesota, when they were hit by a car.
"A witness stated that the car had headlights and that the vehicle did not appear to be speeding, but the vehicle never slowed down, never stopped after hitting the two," said Schroeder.
The victims, who are brothers, were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police say they had critical injuries, one to the head and the other two his legs.
"They were thrown several feet, which would not be unusual when struck by a vehicle," said Schroeder.
Both are now in fair condition.
Police are looking for a four-door 2001 Saab 9.5 with front end damage. It was a dark gray or black car. Witnesses also reported seeing a plastic cover over the rear passenger window.
"Based on the damage that the car supposedly sustained, based on eyewitness account, I would say they would have to know they hit something. There was a hole in the windshield," said Schroeder.
Anyone with information in the case is asked to call Det. Paul Kimble at 316-268-4167.
