Crews in Rice County are working a large grass fire in the southeast part of the county near Avenue V and 26th Road, about 10 miles north of Hutchinson. The fire is along the southwest corner of McPherson County and the north border of Reno County.

Burglars target a dozen locations in one Newton neighborhood overnight

A string of burglaries overnight in Newton - the thieves, targeting one neighborhood near Eighth and Logan Streets, and mostly stole things from detached garages.

They also broke into a couple cars, and even stole one. The car has been found, but the suspects still haven't. Newton police are calling the thefts overnight a burglary spree with at least two suspects involved.
