Old Town's Doc Howards night club is working to reopen, after its liquor license expired earlier this week.

Wichita Fire Marshal Brad Crisp tells Eyewitness News that an annual inspection found the club's fire doors were not properly installed.

Club owner Bryan Shapiro says the fire doors had never been an issue in previous inspections. A Wichita Fire Department inspector's car was parked in front of Doc Howard's Friday morning.  The inspector found the club has made the necessary safety fixes so its license can be renewed.

A sign on the club's front door says the club is closed because of technical issues with the sound system.

Doc Howard's has received negative publicity in recent months because of several fights and shootings on nearby streets.  The Wichita Fire Department says that has nothing to do with this inspection.

The city is working to have the license back to the club by Friday evening.
