Couples who equally split their house chores-- may be more likely to split up. That's the result of a study by researchers in Norway.
They looked for links between housework and happiness by surveying thousands of families, and found a more equal division of household responsibilities was linked to shorter relationships. But that doesn't necessarily mean couples who share the work aren't as happy.
Researchers say there are a few explanations. Couples in equal partnerships may have a more "modern" view of marriage, and be more independent. While in households where the wife does most of the housework, partners may have more traditional attitudes toward divorce.
Both men and women reported the highest satisfaction when housework was equally divided.
