(SALINA, Kan.)—
A central Kansas man in prison for killing his wife and trying to kill his sister-in-law has been ordered to pay thousands of dollars in legal bills when he is released.On Wednesday, a Saline County judge ruled Michael Paulson will be responsible for more than $8,200 to the Board of Indigent Defense Services, more than $18,000 to the Crime Victim Fund and nearly $9,000 for court costs.
The Salina Journal reports Paulson's attorney plans to appeal the restitution order. Paulson is also appealing his conviction.
