Another project is finished in an effort to make improvements to Dodge City's downtown area, and an open house this weekend will celebrate it.

The Main Street Dodge City organization recently finished improvements to the 2nd Avenue Art Guild building at 608 N. Second Ave. in Dodge City. Included in the improvements were replacing an old aluminum awning with a more period appropriate slanted, canvas awning.

The work was done as part of the organization's Facade Improvement Grant Program. The program grants property owners with up to half the costs when making exterior improvements to downtown buildings that fit downtown design guidelines.

To showcase the improvements, there will be an open house at the Art Guild building on Saturday, October 8, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Coffee and refreshments will be provided at the open house.
