It already costs you tens of thousands of dollars, but now a college education in Kansas will get even more expensive.  The Board of Regents voted to raise tuition at all six state schools Thursday. The increases range from 4% at K-State and Fort Hays State to 6.9% at Emporia State.

"Awesome, that's what we want," said WSU student Lashawna Williams with sarcasm dripping from her voice.  "I don't even know what the money is going to.  We already pay enough for books and everything else, it's kind of stressful," she said.

The Board of Regents say the increase is needed to offset a loss of $23 million from cuts in state aid and increased insurance rates.  The increases will generate $26 million for the universities. With it, the schools will get more money from tuition than from taxpayers.  

"I think it's a bad idea, but got to keep going, what do you do," Williams said.  But another student Kevin Verghse says he's not that concerned.  The increase equals about $142 a semester for WSU students.  Verghse says even with that, it's still cheaper than a lot of other schools.  Below is a look at how much each school is going up.

For resident undergraduate students:

• KU (Standard): 6.2% or $222
• KU (Compact): 6.2% or $244.50
• KU Medical Center: 5% or $175.50
• KSU: 4% or $132
• KSU-Salina: 4.3% or $135
• WSU: 6% or $141.75
• ESU: 6.9% or $125
• PSU: 6.8% or $132
• FHSU: 4% or $60.75

For non-resident undergraduate students:

• KU (Standard): 7.4% or $675
• KU (Compact): 5.2% or $534.75
• KU Medical Center: 5% or $461.25
• KSU: 4% or $351
• KSU-Salina: 4.3% or $357
• WSU: 2.2% or $141.75
• ESU: 6.9% or $460
• PSU: 4.2% or $264
• FHSU: No Increase
