The state suspends the license of a Russell day care home after an infant is discovered with signs of abuse.

On Thursday the Kansas Department of Health and Environment suspended the license of the Heather Ragene Ross Day Care Home at 325 Hartman in Russell. According to the suspension report from the KDHE, on June 25 a four-month-old was transported to a Wichita hospital with injuries consistent with abuse and shaken baby syndrome.

The report says an investigation into the cause of the injuries indicated they occurred at the day care home. The day care home operator has the right to request a hearing and appeal the suspension.
