WICHITA, Kan. -

Come back games are usually broken up by the two halves.

Wichita State didn't need the second half against Evansville.

Sparked by a 22-8 run to close the first half, #4 Wichita State came back to beat Evansville 81-67 and improve to 23-0.

"They came out hot, like a lot of teams have against us," Ron Baker said after the game. "You just keep playing the game, keep grinding it out."

Fred Van Vleet and Ron Baker combined for 28 points vs. the Purple Aces and Cleanthony Early tipped in 13 to combat a great effort from DJ Balentine of Evansville, who finished with 26 points.

Wichita State now heads on the road for their toughest stretch of the season with games at Indiana State and Northern Iowa.

"I love playing on the road, so I'm looking forward to it," Baker said. "We will be prepared like we always are. No games are given on the road. It will be hostile and we are looking forward to it."
