North should be very good this season, and during opening night, they started looking like it.

Conner Frankamp dropped in 46 points against Northwest in a 76-43 rout Friday night.

"Let's go out there with a little pop in your step and take it to these guys and get the lead quick," said North head coach Gary Squires. "And then from there, we could really put the pedal down."

The Redskins (1-0) are picked on top of the City League and with no surprise, as nearly every major contributor returns for head coach Gary Squires while Northwest (0-1) is rebuilding.

The game was close early as both teams were matching each others intensity trading baskets until Frankamp warmed up. He knocked down bucket after bucket, starting a 13-0 run that boosted their lead to 30-10 before a 37-20 lead at halftime. Frankamp had 23 points at the break.

"Got some easy buckets out there - which is good thing for me," Frankamp said. "Don't just shoot the three that's wide open for me. Try to get to the whole and get my rhythm going."

"During the middle of the first quarter, he got a couple three's and we could sense he was going to fill it," Squires said. "He started coming off some picks and shooting more, we called his number more often."

Northwest played better in the second half - Nick Williams and Tyler Brown contributing but it wasn't enough on a night when Frankamp goes off.

"We are picked number one in the league, so that puts a little chip on our shoulder," Frankamp said. "I thought the guys came out and played really well tonight and backed that up."
