Holton is a terrible passing team. So bad they didn't complete a pass in the first half.

Fortunately they can run the ball so effectively, Collegiate had no answer as the Wildcats stomped their way to a 28-0 win Saturday afternoon in the 4A playoffs.

Collegiate's first full year in 4A football ended 9-2. Undefeated Holton (11-0) will face and host the winner of the McPherson/Andale game. That game is currently scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

Collegiate had a lot of offensive spark - case in point when Landon Root connected with Isiah Franklin, made a couple nice moves in the open field before fumbling it. Holton recovered and made the Spartans pay, going on an endless drive capped off by a Drake Ewing 27-yard touchdown. Holton never trailed.

Root got the offense going again in the second quarter, but on a broken play, he coughed it up and Holton recovered. It led to a Trent Tanking 5-yard score and Holton had a 14-0 halftime lead. They controlled the tempo of the game and had all the momentum.

Marcus Phox, along with Franklin, sparked another Collegiate drive but a Root interception stopped it in it's tracks. The end result: Another Holton touchdown, and a 28-0 final score.

Holton will matchup with McPherson/Andale winner next Friday, November 9th at home in Holton.
