Mulvane has been a one trick pony all season - except for in the playoffs.

Michael Mason helped out with two rushing touchdowns, with Ty Reddington's three touchdowns, on their way to a 37-14 win over Rose Hill at Mulvane.

The defending 4A state champions are gone from the playoffs at 4-6.

Rose Hill struck first in this AVCTL battle of 4A titans, when TJ Slade threw a 55-yard touchdown pass to Bret Waddell to go up 6-0.

Mulvane (9-1) matched the Rockets after consecutive passes from Reddington put them inside the redzone, leaving it for Mason to score from 15 yards out on one of the gnarliest runs of the season. Two point conversion was blocked, leaving it tied at 6-6. That was the last time Mulvane would be tied or trail.

From there, Reddington rolled out and connected with Nolan Smith for 15-yard touchdown, giving them a 14-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. Reddington ran one more score in and the defense toppled Slade in the end zone for a safety, giving them a 22-6 edge at halftime.

It looked like they would cruise from there but Rose Hill stopped the hosts on their opening possession and got within one score when Slade connected with Waddell on a great over the shoulder catch in the end zone. Mulvane led 22-14 - the closest Rose Hill got from there on out. Reddington finished the night 11-21 for 220 yards passing.

Reddington busted in from 26 yards out putting them up 30-14, and led another drive at the end of the game for Mason to cap off with a 23-yard touchdown run. Mason had 89 yards rushing at the end of the night. It was the exclamation point of the night.

Mulvane gets set for Maize South, Saturday in Maize. The Mavericks beat Topeka-Hayden 14-7 Tuesday night.
