The Wichita State Lady Shockers may have earned their Missouri Valley Conference regular-season title but now they have their sights set on the tournament crown. The Lady Shocks earned a bye with their No. 1 seed bid to the tournament and had to battle Drake in the second round of the bracket. Despite an early battle the Lady Shockers took control late in the second half to defeat the Lady Bulldogs 73-58.

Drake jumped out to a quick start on Wichita State with an eight point lead late in the first half. At halftime the Lady Shockers had the two point advantage 36-34. The Lady Bulldogs took their last lead of the game early in the second half but Wichita State found the strength to pull away. The Lady Shockers had a 19 point lead with three minutes left in the game and finished off the Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Shockers had four players in double digits. Freshman guard Michaela Dapprich, sophomore guard Alex Harden and senior forward Chynna Turner all had 15 points against Drake. Redshirt junior forward Michelle Price had 10 points of her own and led Wichita State with nine rebounds. The Lady Shockers were 47-percent shooting from the field. Drake gave up 20 turnovers resulting in 28 points for the Lady Shockers.
Wichita State will advance to play Northern Iowa on Saturday, March 16 at 1:35 p.m.
