Everyone in the stadium knew that Dylan Wissman was going to get the football, and yet no one was able to stop him. The senior running bak carried the ball on 10 of the first 11 plays and the 11th was a pass that bounced out of the running backs hands.
Wissman scored the first two touchdowns of the game. He set himself up for the first with a 25 yard run, taking the ball down to the one yard line. He would punch it in for the Cougar touchdown in the next play. The second came on a 5 yard rush.
Central Plains would have the flashiest score of the night when Layne Bieberle ran the ensuing kickoff back 72 yards for the toughdown. That pulled the Oilers within 14-8.
The two teams would exchange touchdowns before the half. Justin Bartonek score on a 1 yard plung for OB. Bryce Steiner hit Bieberle for a35 yard TD strike for CP. The game was 24-14 Cougars at the break.
The second half belonged to Otis-Bison. After a Steiner fumble was recovered by Kole Urban, Wissman would get his third touchdown of the night a 5 yard rush. He would added one more score, this one covering 72 yards. The Cougars run away with it in the second half winning 40-14. Wissman finished with close to 300 yards rushing and four touchdowns.
"He's got to be a work horse," said Cougars head coach Travis Starr. "He probably had 20 some carries at halftime. And we tried to mix in a few more guys and limit his touches cause he got to go on offense, then come back in on defense and guard their best receiver. So he had his work cut out for him tonight and the rest of them stepped up and helped him out."
Wissman agrees with Coach Starr that despite the guady numbers it wasn't just him. "I got to give most of to my line because they had to make the holes for me. I just run though them you know they make some pretty big holes. They do a lot of the work."
Otis-Bison improves to 2-0 on the season, they will travel to Hoxie next Friday. Central Plains drops to 0-1, they too are on the road at St. John's Hudson.
