The Fort Hays State men's soccer team jumped into the national rankings after beginning its season 2-0 with a road win at Colorado Christian and a neutral site win against South Dakota School of Mines. The Tigers enter the national rankings for the first time in their young program history at No. 13 in the first regular season poll. The Tigers received votes in the preseason rankings.

The Tigers were close to breaking into the rankings in the program's first year of 2011, reaching the receiving votes section, however they never broke into the top 25.

Fort Hays State is the top ranked team nationally from the Central Region. MIAA foe Northeastern State also jumped into the national rankings this week at No. 20, also with a 2-0 start to the season.

Fort Hays State is also the top ranked team in the NSCAA Central Region Rankings, with Northeastern State just behind. The Tigers and Riverhawks are the only teams in the region to start 2-0.

The Tigers host the FHSU Soccer Classic this weekend at the FHSU Soccer Stadium in Hays. Northeastern State is also part of the two-day event, but does not play the Tigers. The two will meet finally on September 20 here in Hays in conference play.
