Sixth seeded Fort Hays State jumped ahead early and did not look back as they knocked off third seed Northeastern State in the quarterfinal round. The Tiger held the RivherHawks to just .280 shooting as they rolled to a 61-42 win. 


Northeastern State took their only lead of the ballgame at the 19:37 mark of the first half before FHSU scored the next five points and stayed ahead for good. FHSU got up by as much as 16 points in the first half before settling for a 34-20 first half advantage. FHSU would push their advantage to 24 points early in the second half and did not look back. 

Kate Lehman led the way for the Tigers scoring 18 points and pulling down six rebounds going six of seven from the free throw line. Traci Keyser hit four three-pointers for the to finished with 14 points and also added five rebounds. Katelyn Edwards scored 10 points and pulled down a team best seven rebounds on night. For the RiverHawks Taylor Lewis led the way with 14 points and dished two assists. Tosha Tyler scored 13 points and pulled down a team best six rebounds. Also finishing strong on the glass was Sarah Green who added six rebounds three on each end of the floor. 

Fort Hays State will face Central Missouri in a semi-final match-up on March 9 at 8:15 p.m. from Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo.
