Rodney McGruder dropped in a season-high 26 points and Thomas Gipson recorded his first double-double this season as Kansas State (8-2) defeated Texas Southern (1-10) 78-69.
Mcgruder passed the double-digit scoring mark with more than 8 minutes left the first half; a far cry from his four-point game against Gonzaga last Saturday.
The first half was tight between the two teams and Kansas State held just a four point lead at the half.
The Wildcats built a double-digit lead over Texas Southern in the second half but Raymond Penn kept the Tigers in the game. He finished with 24 points.
Kansas State heads to Kansas City Saturday night where they will take on Florida.
