Wichita State takes a break from Missouri Valley Conference play on Saturday afternoon when they take on the Detroit Titans for their Bracket Buster matchup.
Detroit is 6-4 overall in Bracket Buster play and 2-2 on the road in Bracket Busters.
The Shockers and Titans have a long history however they haven't played each other since the 1982-83 season. Wichita State won that last meeting by a score of 73-61 in Wichita. The last time that the Titans beat Wichita State was the 1956-57 season when Detroit won 82-75 at home.
Wichita State comes into this game on a 4-game winning streak and a first-place standing in the Missouri Valley Conference. This game against Detroit will be one of two final regular season home games for Gregg Marshall's team.
The Shockers are led in scoring this season by Cleanthony Early with 14.6 points per game and Carl Hall with 12.2 points per game.
What will be interesting to watch is how the Shockers' defense holds up against the high-powered Detroit offense. Four Titans average double-digits scoring this season including guard Ray McCallum with just under 19 points per game. Detroit's last loss was at home against Green Bay; in that game the Titans were held to just 59 points which is their lowest point total of the season.
Interestingly enough, the Shockers have held all their opponents to an average of 59 points per game this season.
Game time is set for 3pm Saturday afternoon at Koch Arena.
