A 9-6 victory over Alabama in a 1 vs. 2 matchup has helped LSU strengthen its grip on the top spot in the AP college football poll. The Tigers picked up 59 of 60 first-place votes this week after improving to 9-0.

The 8-1 Crimson Tide slips two spots to No. 4.

K-State held steady at #17 after their loss to Oklahoma State. The Cowboys move up a slot to No. 2 for its highest-ever ranking, while unbeaten Stanford inches up one to No. 3.

Boise State got the remaining first-place vote and remains entrenched at No. 5.

Oregon, Oklahoma, Arkansas are still 6, 7 and 8, while Clemson and Virginia Tech round out the Top 10.

Texas moved back into the rankings for the second time this season, at No. 21.

And No. 25 Southern Miss is ranked for the first time since 2004.

Losses cost Arizona State and West Virginia their spots in the poll.
