Dallas Baptist defeated Wichita State 8-2 in game two of a three-game series.

Starter A.J. Ladwig went five innings and gave up one earned run on eight hits with one walk and five strikeouts.

Zair Koeiman went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Tyler Baker went 2-for-3 with a home run.

The Patriots got on the board in the top of the second. After back-to-back singles to start the inning, A.J. Ladwig threw out the runner at third on a bunt attempt to leave runners at first and second with one out. A Shocker error and a sacrifice fly gave DBU an early 2-0 lead.

DBU added to the lead in the fourth. With one out, Justin Wall singled and moved to third on a walk and an infield single. Nash Knight grounded out to Ladwig to drive in Wall and give the Patriots a 3-0 lead.

The Shockers used a solo home run from Tyler Baker to lead off the fourth to cut the lead to 3-1, but the Patriots used three hits and two Shocker errors in the sixth to score two more for a 5-1 lead.

With two outs in the sixth, Dayne Parker singled to third base and scored on a double to left-center from Zair Koeiman to cut the lead to 5-2.

DBU added another unearned run in the seventh and two more in the eighth for an 8-2 lead.

The Shockers and Patriots wrap up the series on Sun., May 11 at 1 p.m. at Eck Stadium.
