The number 3 car will makes its return to NASCAR from the pole. Rookie Austin Dillon was the fastest car in Sunday’s qualifying session, with a speed of 196.019 mph. Which means Dillon will roll off first for next Sunday’s season opening Daytona 500.

“You want to perform with the No. 3; everyone wants to see it perform,” said Dillon, “It's a long season … and this is one of the top points. You want to carry that momentum going forward. I just have to stay grounded and have fun."

Martin Truex, Jr will join Dillon on the front row of next weekend’s race. The rest of the field will be set Thursday night under the lights in Daytona in a pair of races known as the Budweiser Duels.

Kansas native Clint Bowyer was only 20th quickest in Sunday’s qualifying, which means he will start 10th in the second dual race.

“That was about what we expected and we’re right there with our Toyota teammates,” said Bowyer. “We’ll be good in the Duels -- feel like we’ve got a solid 5-hour ENERGY Camry in the draft.  We’ll be fine.”
