Once again Emporia native Clint Bowyer’s Daytona 500 will end in heartbreak. Bowyer’s engine failed on lap 127, he will finish the race in 42nd place.

“It’s just a frustrating day,” Bowyer told FOX sports. “From first the rain, if it was going to blow up I wish it would have blown up four hours ago. I could have been home watching.”

The Kansas native referring to the rain delay that halted the season opening Daytona 500 at lap 39.  This will mark Bowyer’s worst ever finish in the Great American Race. His previous worst finish was 37th in 2006, Bowyer’s rookie season.

“It’s disappointing. The guys work so hard for this race,” said Bowyer. “Everyone’s out there having fun and we broke our toy.”
