FHSU Men roll to exhibition win over Bethel
Fort Hays State men's basketball opened exhibition play on Wednesday night (Oct. 30) at Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays against Bethel College. The Tigers led 55-22 at halftime and cruised to a 94-68 win.
FHSU opened the game on a 30-4 run and never looked back. The Tigers closed the run with 23 unanswered points. FHSU shot 51.5 percent overall.
The Tigers were red-hot from three-point range, going 14-of-27 beyond the arc (51.9 percent). James Fleming was 6-of-7 from deep and 8-of-10 overall from the field to lead FHSU with 22 points. Jared Tadlock was a perfect 7-of-7 from the field for 19 points, which included a 4-of-4 effort beyond the 3-point line. Tadlock and Jake Stoppel led FHSU in rebounds, each with six.
Tiger guards Achoki Moikobu and Craig Nicholson distributed the ball well, Moikobu with 10 assists and Nicholson with seven. Moikobu also led the Tigers in steals with four. Dwayne Brunson (11) and Tomislav Gabric (10) also reached double figures in scoring.
Rodney Hill and Jordan Hett led Bethel with 12 points each, while Tyler Ellis added 11.
Fort Hays State closes out its exhibition play at the University of Kansas on Tuesday (Nov. 5). The game is set for 7 pm at Allen Fieldhouse.
