KANSAS CITY, Missouri (MIAA Media Relations) -

Second seeded Fort Hays State advanced to the MIAA Championship game with a 3-2 win over third seeded Northeastern State.

Fort Hays State’s Ricardo Yeverino got things going when he took a pass from Jaccob Rangel in the 10th minute and buried it in the back of the net. Northeastern State answered less than 30 seconds later Jordan Schmoker scord off a Juan Peralta and Crosby Lee assists.

Michael Cole would then put FHSU ahead as he scored off a Jaccob Rangel pass in the 22nd minute. He would then add what would prove to be the game winner off a pass from Yerino in the 64th minute that found the center of the net. NSU would cut the lead to one in the 65th minute as Schmoker scored with a shot to far post off a pass from Peralta. Jason Babyak stopped six RiverHawk shots to pick up the first win of the tournament.

Fort Hays State will face the winner of tonight’s game at 11 a.m. on Nov. 9 in the MIAA Championship from the College Boulevard Activities Complex in Olathe, Kan.
