The Kansas Jayhawks announced their three team captains for the 2014 football season. Voted on by their teammates, Hutchinson product and senior linebacker Ben Heeney, senior receiver Nick Harwell and senior safety Cassius Sendish were selected.

The three captains addressed the media on Wednesday about taking on leadership roles. Heeney also talked about the big losses at running back after the season-ending injuries to Brandon Bourbon and Taylor Cox.

This will be Heeney's second-consecutive year in a captain's role. He was selected to the All-Big 12 Second Team as a junior. He finished fourth in conference with 8.7 tackles per game and ranked fifth in tackles-for-loss per game with 1.5.

Heeney also finished 2013 with a team-best 88 total stops, including 11.5 tackles for  loss and the first three interceptions of his career.
