MANHATTAN, Kan. -

Jake Waters completed 19 passes for 224 yards and 2 touchdowns while also running for two touchdowns as Kansas State (1-0) whipped Stephen F. Austin (0-1) 55-16 in Manhattan on Saturday night.  

Running back Charles Jones also added two touchdowns on 8 carries for 55 yards.  

Despite a couple of hiccups Kansas State's defense recorded 3 sacks, two of which were created by a freshman.

The win makes Bill Snyder 21-2 overall in season openers with Kansas State.  The win also makes Kstate 1-0 overall against the Lumberjacks.

Kansas State will travel to Iowa State on Saturday September 6th.  That game kicks off at 11 am.

Quarterback Jake Waters has thrown for one touchdown and rushed for two more as #20 Kansas State takes a 28-10 lead into halftime in their season opener.

Stephen F. Austin took advantage of a breakdown in the Wildcats' secondary to score a touchdown in the second quarter.

Kansas State did not punt once in the first half.
