Bowyer on the Backstretch

Bowyer on the Backstretch (August 15, 2012)

Another week, another top 10 for Clint Bowyer. A seventh at Bristol and CB is up one more spot in the standing to sixth.

"We could run the high or low groove and ran through the field a couple times," said Bowyer. "We got down towards the end and I was hoping to make up a little more ground then we did, but we are thinking big picture right now.  No mistakes.  So we gave it as much as we could while making sure to bring it home in one piece."

And now on to Atlanta, where the 15 team can lock in a spot in the Chase for the Championship. And really, it's quite an accomplishment foe what is basically a new team.

"Overall a single digit finish is what we were after and that's what we got (at Bristol)," said Bowyer. " I don't know what the points look like, but I'm hoping we are in a good position after next week in Atlanta."

AMS is one of Bowyer's weaker mile and a half tracks. He has an average finish of 17th and just five top tens on 12 starts.

For you Boywer junkies, be sure to tune in or set the DVR for ESPN Sunday at 2:30pm. This show Catching Speed will chronicle the 15 team as they went through the race weekend at Indianapolis.

"I think that Catching Speed showed just how stressful it can be and how difficult some weekends are when you don't unload with the speed you like to see," said Bowyer. "It was a real struggle that weekend. From my perspective it would have been great to have the crew follow us in Sonoma so the show would have ended with us celebrating in victory lane, but a weekend like Indy will probably make for better TV-lots more to overcome."
